It was Jame's 36th birthday and Zoe was very excited about the whole thing. We had to get banners, balloons, a cake and candles. Of course she insisted on blowing the candles out - and just once but at least 3 times. James didn't get a look in.
I heard on Radio 1 that if you put a conker or two in each room of the house, it is meant to keep the spiders away - apparently they don't like the smell of them.
Whilst at the Newbury Show last week I tasted some Morrocan Pork from a stall promoting British Pork. I took one of their recipe sheets and made it myself. It was so easy to make and yet so very tasty. It was nice to have something different to eat.
We love to drive down to Sandbanks and have fish and chips in the car and watch the world go by. It is so beautiful down there. We watch the boats go by and the ferry go back and forth. We treated to this lovely sunset.
Strictly Come Dancing is back on the TV and I love it. This year the celebrities are all really good - I think it will be a good competition. Every year I sit on the sofa and admire the beautiful dancers. I wish I could dance like them - so stylish and graceful.
I got an e-mail from Letraset with a bargain deal for the 56 new colours of Pro Markers with free pen holders. It was just too good a deal to miss out on so I treated myself to them. Aren't they gorgeous?
I saw this chocolate cream cake in Asdas and just really fancied it - so I bought it. It was scrummy!!! It won't help my diet but sometimes you just have to have something naughty don't you?
Zoe is poorly which explains some of her grumpiness on Sunday. She sneezed all the way home from Uncle Joe's and then was awake alot in the night crying. When she gets a cold, it always goes to her chest and she gets very wheezy. I had to work from home to look after her and I managed to convince her to have a sleep - couldn't resist taking this photo of her.
We went to the Newbury Show and Zoe spotted the Big Wheel. She begged and begged to go on it. James said yes but whilst he queued to pay, I watched it. It went very fast and was obviously very high up. I thought that there would be no way she would want to stay on it once it got going - but no she absolutely loved it and giggled the whole time. She then demanded to go on the flying chairs - she is only 3! I let her go on the small ones!
I went to visit Tina up in Southampton hospital and got a lovely cuddle with baby Isla. You would never think she is poorly - she is gorgeous! Made me feel very broody. The doctors are hoping to operate this week.
Zoe had her first session at the pre-school for the school that she will go to when she is five - as long as we get our house in Sturminster Marshall. She had a great time. I stayed with her for the session but next week she will go by herself. I have to get her some black plimsolls as they have a PE session each week.
On my way to work I realised that I'd forgotten to bring my Sunflower Seeds and Oats Ryvita for lunch. I have these every day for lunch with Extra Light Philadelphia. I stopped at a shop to get myself some lunch, they had no Ryvita so I bought a Coronation Chicken baguette. I craved my Ryvita all day and so had them for my tea instead. Beginning to suspect that I am addicted to them.
My oldest friend has finally had her baby. She has known it was going to be a little girl, but unfortunately she also knew it was going to be born with some heart problems. She was induced on Monday morning so the hospital knew that could be prepared for the birth and any eventualities. She ended up having a C-section and the baby was born at 1.35pm weighing 8lb 2oz. I haven't heard anything since but I am hoping no news is good news!
Patrick Swayze died at the age of 57 after battling against pancreatic cancer. He was one of my idols in the 80's for his part in the film Dirty Dancing. I have lost count of the number of times I have watched this film - it has to be one of the greatest of all time!
Zoe was given some Snap cards for Christmas but she was too young to play then. She found them again the other day and now she is very good at playing the game. We played 3 hands before bedtime and she thrashed me, 2 games to 1.
Zoe had a birthday party at Farmer Palmers and she spent most of her time with Edith - her best friend from nursery. They are funny to watch when they are together. Edith is a leader type character and Zoe is very happy to follow in her wake and do as instructed.
Zoe's school trainers were a disgrace and so I decided to buy her some new ones. I just wanted some cheapy ones as they get so trashed at nursery, but when we got there she managed to chose the most expensive ones in the whole shop. They are Peppa Pig ones and she just "needed" them!
I have had to work 5 days this week and it made for a very long week. I like having my Fridays off as it means that I can get the housework and other things done ready for the weekend. It also gives me a chance to catch up on my scrapping. Never mind that extra money always comes in handy!
I don't know what is happening to my weight, it seems to be piling on no matter how little I eat, but I have discovered these really scrummy jelly pots. The best thing is that they have less than 10 calories per pot and yet they are delicious.
The price of petrol seems to be spiralling upwards - unleaded is now £1.04 per litre. Tesco are running an offer with a 5p off a litre coupon but it still makes it expensive to fill our large car up - £53.35
I seem to be so behind on lots of my digi scrapping and trying to do this daily challenge is quite hard so I have found that a really good solution is to bring my laptop into work and do the LSNED pages in my lunchbreak.
Love Lies by Adele Parks is a fab book. It has kept me up reading gone midnight for the last 2 nights. The beginning is a real fairy tale romance - a story that would be great if it happened to you, however I have just got to the part where, the fairy tale may not be all it appears to be. A fantastic read and a little bit steamy!!!
Our new house will have a big garden and so we are thinking of keeping a few chickens. We have been doing some research into what it entails. We are thinking of 3 chickens and Zoe wants to call them Charlie, Lola and Soren Lorenson.
We went to the Dorchester Show and there a wasp flying near my face, so I swatted it away but I must have hit him right on his bum as I got stung. It hurt instantly and my finger swelled up and throbbed all day. This photo was taken about 6 hours later and so the swelling had gone down quite a bit. It is still hurting the next day! I got my revenge this morning as one flew into our lounge and I killed it!
I seem to get so hungry in the evenings and I am so desparately trying to lose weight (not that any is coming off!) and so I have found out that a small bowl of dry Frosties makes a really scrummy snack.
Reading Zoe's bedtime story is usually Daddy's job but he was late home from work so I had to do it. Normally it takes forever and that is just Zoe chosing which book she wants. But she picked 2 books really quickly and it was actually really enjoyable to spend a quiet 5 minutes with her.
I have decided to use the LSNED for my September posts.
I bathed Zoe yesterday and as usual I had to read her bath book to her - The Rainbow Fish. As I was reading it to her, she was saying all the words as I was saying them. I realised that she knows this book off by heart. Mind you we do have to read it to her everytime she has a bath.
Every September Shimelle runs a course called Learn Something New Everyday. It is to make you more aware of what is going on around you. You are given daily prompts for the whole of September. Here is my front cover.
Today we went on second viewing on this house - we love it even though it is nothing like we wanted. It is a converted 2 bed bungalow into a 4 bed chalet bungalow with a massive garden. It has just been renovated. It is in a quite rural village with fields all round us. Zoe would go to a small village school - perfect!
Zoe has been such a good girl today. We have had a viewing on a house and she was like a little angel. We promised her that if she was good in the house, then we would take her to Toys R Us and treat her to a new toy. She chose a Fifi Flowertot Play Park.
Yesterday we found out that the sellers of our new house have pulled out. They have kept us waiting for 2 and a half months to make this decision. We are really fed up but we have to get on and find a new house, so we have been trawling round the estate agents to see what is on the market.
