Day 195 - Sunday 13th July

Disco - The "disco sound" while unique almost defies a unified description as it was an ultra-inclusive art form that drew on as many influences as it produced interpretations.

Now this is a bit more my cup of tea of all the musical genres we have looked at.

I always remember we had discos in my village where I grew up that were for ages 7-14. I used to love them and would get dressed up and have glitter on my face and then dance to my hearts content all evening. I would often win a prize – a plastic necklace or 50p.The woman who did the disco was called Linda and she used to wear the most amazing turquoise blue tight trousers like the ones Sandy wore in Grease at the end of the film. She was brilliant at dancing too and would show us all the dance moves to the latest songs. I must have been 7 or 8 years old and I was in total awe of her.
I can't dance for toffee now apart from in the style as I did in the very early 80's or just by shuffling my feet around in a bit of a "Dad Dance" style. I certainly wouldn't win any prizes ;-)
I have always wanted one of these:
